Seasoned sports executive and community investment leader steps into key role
CALGARY, Alberta – Sport Calgary and the Board of Directors announced today the conclusion of its executive search process that marks the next chapter in the organization’s continued commitment to building a strong, inclusive, and accessible community sport system. Further details will be provided at the Sport Calgary Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 (details below).
Effective April 15, 2026, Candice Goudie has been appointed President of Sport Calgary. She succeeds Catriona Le May Doan who led the organization from 2019 to 2025.
Goudie brings extensive experience in sport leadership, program creation, governance, and community engagement; previously leading the Calgary Flames Foundation, along with Calgary Sport and Entertainment Corporation (CSEC) charities and community investment portfolios. She has a strong track record in advancing sport development pathways, strengthening partnerships, and championing access and inclusion in sport. Her leadership reflects a deep understanding of both grassroots sport and system-level collaboration, aligning closely with Sport Calgary’s strategic priorities.
“The Board of Directors is thrilled to welcome Candice as the new leader of Sport Calgary, a proud Civic Partner of the City of Calgary, at such an important time for sport in our community,” said Jason Ribeiro, Board Chair of Sport Calgary. “Securing someone of Candice’s caliber, with her proven experience and track record in professional and community sport is a significant achievement for our organization. We look forward to the inclusive and results-driven leadership Candice brings to our partners, member organizations, and the broader community.”
“Calgary is, at its core, a sports city and we are approaching a pivotal time in its future. As our city grows and evolves, sport remains one of our most powerful tools to build connection, resilience, and community. From the first experience on a playground or field, to the highest levels of competition, every person plays a role in creating a system that is safe, inclusive, and accessible for all,” says Candice Goudie, President of Sport Calgary. “This organization has the opportunity, and responsibility, to lead with bold vision and meaningful action so that sport continues to shape lives across every generation safely, strategically, and with alignment.”
The executive search process for a president began in the fall of 2025 and was led by DHR Global’s Calgary office.
