Our staff and board is comprised of leaders in sport, business and communications. They bring a wealth of experience and guidance, each with their own area of expertise but grounded in a common passion for our city and its sporting community.
Born and raised in Calgary, C.J. Wedenig is a marketing and multimedia professional passionate about helping organizations tell their story and strengthen their connection to the community. He has supported a wide range of organizations—including Scotiabank, Calgary Folk Music Festival, STARS, and local sport teams—through creative campaigns, content development, and brand‑building initiatives.
C.J. studied at the University of Central Oklahoma and Mount Royal University, developing strong skills in leadership, communication, and high‑performance development. As a former Division I athlete and certified high‑performance coach, he brings a unique perspective that blends sport, strategy, and audience engagement.
Outside of work, C.J. stays active coaching elite hockey, hiking, golfing, and biking. Deeply connected to his hometown, he’s committed to giving back and helping others experience the community, growth, and connection that sport provides through Sport Calgary’s programs and events.
Candice Goudie is the President of Sport Calgary, where she leads with a clear focus: to make sport more accessible, connected, and impactful for all Calgarians.
Her career has been built at the intersection of sport, community, and partnerships – bringing people together to solve challenges, while growing opportunities for participation across the city. She is known for turning ideas into action and for building strong, trusted relationships across sectors.
Candice’s leadership extends beyond her role through active involvement in the community, including her work with the Parks Foundation’s Amateur Sport Committee and past contributions to initiatives like ACTIVE City and the O’Brien Public Health Institute, along with her nearly two-decade tenure with the Calgary Flames and Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation (CSEC).
Over 19 years with the organization, Candice helped shape one of Canada’s most respected professional sports community portfolios, building programs, partnerships, and charitable initiatives that touched thousands of families across southern Alberta as the Executive Director of the Calgary Flames Foundation and CSEC Foundations.
These experiences continue to shape her perspective on the role sport plays in public health, city-building, and community wellbeing.
At her core, Candice believes in the power of sport and is committed to driving the sport sector forward alongside the Sport Calgary team and Board of Directors.
Duncan is a sport event professional and soccer referee with over five years of experience working at national and international sporting events. With a strong background in event operations, member engagement, and high‑performance officiating, he excels in fast‑paced environments where communication, precision, and teamwork are essential.
As Sport Calgary’s Membership & Events Coordinator, Duncan leads the planning and delivery of the organization’s signature and community events. His work includes event logistics, budgeting, partner and member relations, on‑site operations, and post‑event evaluation—ensuring high‑quality experiences for athletes, participants, and stakeholders across Calgary’s sport community.
Alongside his event work, Duncan is a Provincial Referee with Alberta Soccer and has officiated extensively in Ontario and Québec. His officiating portfolio includes OFSAA championships, Ontario Cup Finals, U SPORTS national events, and League1 Ontario and Québec matches. These roles have strengthened his leadership, decision‑making, and ability to perform under pressure.
Duncan is passionate about building accessible and vibrant sport communities. From grassroots festivals to major national championships—including the IIHF World Junior Championship and multiple U SPORTS national tournaments—he is committed to elevating the quality, safety, and professionalism of every sport environment he contributes to.
Sandra Paire

Sandra brings strong expertise in event strategy, stakeholder engagement, and community building. She holds an MBA from San Francisco and a BBA from Paris.
Sandra has lived and worked across West Africa, Europe, and North America. Her career path has spanned the private sector, education, and non-profit leadership — from video game buyer in France to travel consultant in Scandinavia and West Africa, business instructor in the Netherlands, and Associate Dean at SAIT’s School of Business.
Before joining Sport Calgary in 2017, she led the Youth and French programs at Wordfest.
At Sport Calgary, Sandra leads the strategy and delivery of signature events including All Sport One Day, All Sport One City, and Celebration of Sport. She also oversees membership engagement and growth, strengthening relationships with sport organizations across Calgary and ensuring members are supported, connected, and represented.
A committed advocate for multisport participation at every age and ability, she believes no one should have to choose just one way to move. After 15 years of ballet and jazz, she also ventured into beach volleyball, badminton, open water swimming, windsurfing, and figure skating.
Proud to call Canada home, Sandra champions sport as a powerful connector that builds belonging and strengthens communities.
Tanis Ursulak brings over 15 years of experience in community relations, partnerships, and member engagement, with a background in healthcare and business development. As Manager, External Affairs at Sport Calgary, she builds strategic partnerships and champions accessible sport for all Calgarians. A lifelong multi-sport athlete and proud sport mom, Tanis sees sport as more than a game; it’s where confidence is built, friendships are formed, and communities grow stronger. She believes the field, rink, and court are some of life’s best classrooms, and the perfect reason to get outside. Tanis also serves on the Board of Directors forPrescription to Get Active.
Originally from the United Kingdom, Yasmin brings an international perspective and a lifelong passion for sport to her role as Community Outreach Coordinator at Sport Calgary. She leads the All Sport One Community program, an initiative dedicated to removing barriers to sport participation by offering free, inclusive opportunities to equity-deserving individuals and groups across Calgary.
Yasmin’s own love for sport began at a young age, playing every sport available at school from netball to field hockey to rounders. She focused in on middle distance running and has since represented England and Great Britain in the steeplechase.
Before moving to Calgary, Yasmin competed in track and cross country at the NCAA Division I level for Lamar University and Colorado State University, where she won seven conference championship titles and earned NCAA All-American honours in the 3000m steeplechase.
Yasmin holds a Master of Tourism Management from CSU, an MBA from Lamar University, and a BSc in Geography from the University of Birmingham. She is grateful to sport for taking her all over the world and is passionate about providing opportunities for Calgarians to experience the many benefits of sport.
A member of The City of Calgary’s Partnerships team, Eric works closely with a wide range of municipal recreation and sport partners, including Sport Calgary.
Prior to joining The City, Eric held communications, marketing and partnership roles with a variety of notable organizations including Western Financial Group, Allstate Insurance Company of Canada, the Canadian Olympic Committee and Canada Basketball.
In his previous roles, Eric developed and executed strategic partnership agreements with a variety of organizations and properties including the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA), the National Hockey League (NHL), the Capital One Grand Slam of Curling series and the CTV Olympic Celebration Tour.
Away from the office, Eric is busy at home with his two boys who he coaches in baseball and football. He enjoys boxing, fitness and running.
Jason Ribeiro, Ph.D., is a father, community advocate, and Co-Chairman & President of REAL Entertainment & Culture Inc. Jason is passionate about shaping culture and helping build a more ambitious Canada through his entrepreneurial ventures, including the Calgary Surge and Saskatoon Mamba Professional Basketball Clubs, the Canadian Elite Basketball League, and REAL Studios. Jason holds degrees from McMaster University, York University, and Brock University, and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Calgary, where he was a SSHRC Joseph-Armand Bombardier Scholar. He is a regular presence in media and academia and serves on several corporate and not-for-profit boards.
Since 2023 Jason has received the King Charles III’s Coronation and Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medals, Business in Calgary Leaders Award, Outstanding Young Alumni & Alumni Brilliance Awards from Brock University, Culbert Family Award for Philanthropy from the United Way of Calgary and Area, Outstanding Achievement in Sports Award from the South Asian Inspiration Awards, and was named to Avenue Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40 List, the Calgary Herald’s Compelling Calgarians List, and The Peak’s Emerging Leaders List. However, Jason’s greatest achievement is the family life he’s built with his wife, Dr. Natalie Scime and their sons Matteo and Lorenzo.
Jeff Dyer has served in the not for profit sector for over 25 years, leading in agencies involved in poverty reduction, affordable housing, youth leadership development, ending homelessness and now serves as the CEO of Trellis Society. In each of these roles, he has had the privilege of aligning personal values with organizational vision: creating spaces for young people to thrive, leaders to grow, justice and mercy to emerge and everyone to belong.
Jeff is a graduate of the University of Alberta, with both a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Business Administration. Jeff serves on the Board of Futurepreneur Foundation of Canada, as the Chair on the Board for A Way Home Canada, and has held various volunteer roles in sport, including marathoning, youth cross country running, hockey and soccer. For fun, he runs marathons.
Kathryn was on the External Affairs Standing Committee. She is an experienced business leader, broadcaster, and fundraiser who has served on boards and committees that focus on inclusive sport and diverse ecosystems for women and youth advocating for sport for life.
Kathryn is a former Canadian Women’s National Team soccer player and youth coach. Skilled in business strategy, technology, innovation, fundraising, marketing, and relationship management. She has an MBA from Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, and certificate programs in Sport Management Studies at Columbia University and Innovation at Stanford University.
Nancy Farries is the Senior Vice President of YMCA Canada West Regional Development Centre, supporting YMCAs across western Canada. Through her career Nancy has given leadership to a broad range of operational, strategic and governance responsibilities. Prior to her current role she served as the Vice President of Operations, and subsequently the Senior Vice President of Association Advancement and Development with YMCA Calgary. Nancy is a long serving volunteer with the Calgary Stampede and was previously on the board of Run Calgary. She holds a degree in Physical Education and an MBA, both from the University of Calgary as well as her ICD.D certification.
Patricia McLeod is an experienced corporate director and the current Board Chair of Pieridae Energy Limited (TSX: PEA), a publicly-traded integrated upstream/midstream natural gas exploration and production company.
Patricia recently completed a five-year term as the Board Chair of Calgary Cooperative Association (Calgary Co-op), one of North America’s largest retail cooperatives (annual revenue exceeding $1.3B). Patricia was also the inaugural Board Chair of the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA), a provincial regulatory agency reorganized under amended real estate legislation in late 2020.
Patricia has also been Board Chair of the Calgary Film Centre, YW Calgary and cSPACE Projects, all substantial not-for-profit organizations that engaged in significant strategic and capital projects during her board terms. She currently also serves on the boards of Alberta Innovates, MINDD Inc., and the Green Line Board. She is a passionate community builder with a strong understanding of innovation and change management.
Patricia is a former General Counsel, Vice President, and Privacy and Compliance Officer. She held senior leadership roles with electricity-regulated utilities, mortgage brokerage, insurance, and financial services companies. She has extensive experience in contracts and corporate legal matters including mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, capital development projects, regulatory applications, privacy and compliance oversight and business development transactions.
Patricia has a law degree and business degree from the University of Alberta and an MBA from Queen’s University, during which time she completed an applied thesis in creating a culture of innovation in regulated entitles. She is also a certified Compliance and Ethics Officer, a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors’ accredited director program and recently completed Competent Boards certification program for board directors in ESG oversight. She was appointed as King’s Counsel in January 2014 (formerly Queen’s Counsel at time of appointment).
Patricia was recognized by the Premier of Alberta with a Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for her contributions to Alberta in 2022. She was recognized by BMO Financial and Women Get on Board in 2021 as one of five Canadian leading women corporate directors. She was awarded Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by WXN in 2018 and 2019 and Legal Advisor of the Year (2019) by Women in Finance Canada.
Russell Reimer is an active member in Canada’s sport community, founded All Sport One Day as a free city-wide sport discovery opportunity for kids, was a founding
partner of the Canadian Olympic Committee’s Game Plan total athlete wellness program, and served as the chair of Calgary’s Civic Sport Policy Committee. He’s the president of Small Victories Consulting and has worked with world leaders in sport over the past two decades as an athlete agent, sport marketing brand consultant, documentary producer and major event strategist highlighted by his senior advisory work on the Calgary 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Bid.
He holds a Master of Communications degree from the University of Calgary and was awarded a Toronto International Film Festival screening for his documentary Unbroken: The Snowboard Life of Mark McMorris (2018), received the Barb Tarbox Award for Tobacco Prevention (2005) and was recognized as one of Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40 (2009).
He lives in Bridgeland with his wife Amber and son Emmett and is active in snowboarding and beach volleyball.
Sharon is the Director of Development, Spirit North. She is a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience in the non-profit sector, specializing in fundraising and strategic development. With a passion for creating positive change in communities, she has dedicated her career to supporting various non-profit organizations in achieving their missions.
Sharon joined Spirit North in the fall of 2023 to lead the development portfolio. Her collaborative spirit, commitment to fostering a culture of philanthropy and her ability to cultivate lasting and meaningful donor relationships will ensure Spirit North continues to bring land-based sport and play activities to Indigenous children and youth across Canada. Sharon’s strategic fundraising approach aims to broaden Spirit North’s outreach, amplify our impact, and foster sustainable long-term growth.
When she is not working, Sharon spends her time with three young children, walking her dog and spending time with her husband.
Simon brings a wealth of experience in accounting and finance having worked in the UK, Australia and Canada. He is a partner at PwC in the Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory practice in Calgary.
When not advising clients on accounting issues Simon loves to spend his time playing soccer and spending time with his wife and two young boys. Simon has always seen sport as a key part of the communities that he lives in and as a newcomer to Canada it was a great way to meet people and make lifelong friends. Simon is excited to get increasingly involved in youth sport as his sons grow up.
William O’Yeung is a Chartered Professional Accountant with an MBA from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor of Commerce from UCalgary. During his thirty-year career at Shell Canada, he held various positions including accounting, planning, strategy, project management and leadership roles. His desire to help others has had him involved in roles such as a Board Member of Shell Canada’s Community Service Fund, participant of United Way of Calgary’s campaign, coach in the Calgary Minor Soccer and Basketball Associations and Adult Mentor of U.S. Department of State’s Youth Ambassador Program. In addition to his UCalgary Alumni Association role as Chair and President, his current volunteer involvements include Director and active volunteer of Escape with STEM, UCalgary Board of Governors member and UCalgary Senate member and Kidsport Canada Board member.
Wilma Shim is a Commissioner with the Alberta Human Rights Commission and a sports law instructor in the Faculties of Law and Kinesiology at the University of Calgary. She holds an LLM in Sports Law (DMU) and a Juris Doctor from UCalgary. Called to the Bar in 2011, she previously worked for Alberta Justice as a Prosecutor and Barrister and Solicitor for 10 years. Wilma is a University of Calgary Senator and is a board member of ASSIST, FACL, and AWL.
She has volunteered with Special Olympics Alberta-Calgary since 2007, starting as a powerlifting coach and has served as a director and the provincial board chair of Special Olympics Alberta.
Currently, she is the head coach of the Special Olympics Badminton program and is the Vice Chair of Special Olympics Alberta-Calgary’s AMC. In 2023, she was named a Lexpert Rising Star and is part of Avenue Magazine’s Top 40 under 40 Class of 2015. She was inducted to the Order of the University of Calgary in 2010. In 2024, Wilma was awarded a University of Calgary Teaching Award.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, including her husband and 3 young sons.

Ian White is one of Calgary’s most experienced broadcast journalists. He is the host of CTV News at 5 and contributes to the organization’s content as an anchor, reporter, producer and editor.
Over his more than thirty years at CTV he has interviewed hundreds of newsmakers – from prime ministers to premiers to writers to athletes to musicians to plenty of ordinary people. He’s also helped provide live coverage of several municipal, provincial and federal elections.
A father of three, many of his favourite experiences involved his kids’ hockey, dance and other sports activities. Ian believes strongly that sports and activity can form a foundation of physical, mental and emotional wellbeing for everyone.
