All Sport One Community and Calgary Adapted Hub Team Up for Inclusive Multi-Sport Day at Marlborough Community Association
In a powerful display of inclusion, community, and the joy of movement, Sport Calgary’s All Sport One Community partnered with Calgary Adapted Hub powered by Jumpstart to host a free, multi-sport day designed specifically for children with intellectual disabilities. Held at the Marlborough Community Association, the event created a supportive and welcoming space where kids could explore new sports, have fun, and connect through play.
The day featured four engaging activities, each tailored to the needs of the participants. Soccer was coached by the team at Soccabilities, who brought energy, creativity, and adaptability to the game. Lacrossing Barriers introduced kids to the fast-paced game of lacrosse, ensuring every child had the opportunity to participate and shine. Bloom Wellness led a lively dance session that had everyone moving and smiling, while Yogabilities offered a calming and accessible yoga class to help kids relax and tune into their bodies.
While the kids played, parents and caregivers attended a resource fair featuring numerous local organizations that support children with disabilities. The fair provided valuable information on programs, services, and supports available in Calgary, helping families connect with resources tailored to their needs.
The event demonstrated the impact of inclusive sport programming, showing that with the right partners and planning, every child can experience the benefits of physical activity, confidence-building, and community connection.
Through this partnership with Calgary Adapted Hub, All Sport One Community continues to break down barriers and ensure that all children, regardless of ability, have the chance to discover the joy of sport.
