Cavalry FC and All Sport One Community Team Up to Welcome Newcomers Through Soccer
In a powerful show of sport, community, and connection, All Sport One Community partnered with Cavalry FC to host a free soccer event for newcomer children aged 7 to 12 in Calgary’s northeast.
Held at the Genesis Centre, a hub for sport and culture in the heart of the community, the event brought together young participants for an afternoon of fun, learning, and belonging. The camp was led by coaches from Eastside Memorial Football Club alongside Cavalry FC players and coaches, who provided expert instruction, encouragement, and inspiration throughout the day.
Kids took part in a series of exciting drills and games designed to teach basic soccer skills while building confidence and friendships. The field buzzed with energy as players worked together, laughed, and discovered the joy of the game many for the very first time.
Each child received a special gift each session, including a Cavalry FC/Sport Calgary t-shirt, mini Cavalry FC soccer ball, Sport Calgary friendship bracelet, Cavalry FC badge, swag bag, and two tickets to the Cavalry FC home opener. These gifts weren’t just souvenirs they were symbols of inclusion and a warm invitation into Calgary’s sport community.
For many families, this was their first time engaging with organized sport in Canada. Events like these highlight the power of partnerships between sport organizations, community clubs, and local leaders to create meaningful opportunities for newcomers to feel seen, supported, and connected.
All Sport One Community continues to work with partners like Cavalry FC to break down barriers and ensure that all Calgarians regardless of background can access the life-changing benefits of sport.
