The origins of Paralympic Sport are in a competition for wheelchair athletes held in 1968 at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in England. Since then, over 25 sports (20 summer and 5 winter) have been added to the Paralympic Games, and many other sports have been adapted for persons with disabilities.
