Safe and effective coaching: Coaching the new generation of athlete in a safe and successful way.

The abuse that occurs in sport, including sexual abuse and the grooming behavior that precedes it, as well as physical abuse, destroys the positive impact of sport and causes immense harm to victims and those around them. Consequently, your sport organizations has a critical obligation to establish and maintain robust systems that prevent abuse and effectively respond to any conduct that poses a risk to players and athletes. 

Coaches play a vital role in shaping the youth of tomorrow through sport. We rely on coaches, sport officials and other persons in positions of authority to serve as role models and guide young athletes towards success. However, the inherent power imbalance and culture of unquestioned trust in the coach-athlete dynamic can lead to abuse. This session will cover the line between assertive and abusive coaching as well as provide tools to support your creation of a positive reinforcement based coaching environment.
