The 2025 Tour de Bowness has grown into one of the premier amateur cycling races in Western Canada. Since its inception in 2001, the Tour de Bowness has expanded from the Bowness Criterium to include the Hill Climb and Road Race, attracting more participants and fans each year.
The Road Race kicks off the event on August 2 at 42041 Weedon Trl, Rocky View County AB T4C 3A2. This race on Horse Creek Road north of Cochrane challenges riders with tough climbs and sharp turns, culminating in the infamous "hill" on the return lap.
Next up is the Hill Climb on August 3, held at 2116 Mackay Rd NW, Calgary AB T3B 1C7. This event features individual time trials leading to thrilling 5-up finales, with riders starting in the morning to avoid the unpredictable evening winds.
The event concludes with the fan-favorite Bowness Criterium on August 4, taking place at Bowness Rd NW & 64 St NW, Calgary, AB T3B 0E8. This race remains a favorite among cyclists and spectators alike, with its seven tight turns and prime viewing spots throughout downtown Bowness.
In recent years, the Tour de Bowness has introduced a kids' race and included para cyclists, furthering its commitment to diversity and inclusion. The 2025 edition promises to be the best yet, with exciting tweaks to enhance the racing experience.
