Ladies in Motion: Moving Together, Building Community

This spring, All Sport One Community launched Ladies in Motion a vibrant and welcoming program designed specifically for newcomer women and mums in Calgary’s Falconridge community. Held at the Falconridge-Castleridge Community Association, the program consisted of eight classes.

The goal? To create a fun, supportive space where women new to Canada could explore fitness, meet others, and feel a sense of belonging in their new home.

Each session featured a rotating lineup of activities including Yoga, Zumba, and Bollywood dancing. Whether stretching into new poses, dancing to upbeat rhythms, or trying something completely unfamiliar, participants were encouraged to move at their own pace and simply enjoy the experience.

More than just a fitness program, Ladies in Motion was a celebration of community and connection. It offered a chance for participants to meet other women with similar experiences, share laughs, and begin building lasting friendships all while improving their physical and mental well-being.

The warm energy in the room each session reflected the power of sport and movement to break down barriers, boost confidence, and bring people together. As the program wrapped up, many participants shared how meaningful it was to feel welcomed, included, and uplifted in a new environment.

Ladies in Motion is just one example of how All Sport One Community is working to make sport and wellness more accessible for everyone one step, one dance, and one smile at a time.

It’s improved my health, helped me build meaningful social connections, and keeps me motivated to stay active.
