Rob is a passionate former sports broadcaster who is fortunate to call Calgary home. In May of 2014 he returned to Sportsnet 960 the FAN to co-host the afternoon drive show. Prior to that, Rob worked for three seasons as the Play by Play voice of the Calgary Flames on Sportsnet.
In May 2003 Rob moved to Sportsnet Radio the FAN960. Daily he got to debate and discuss the top sports stories, and interview the athletes, coaches, managers, presidents, and commissioners who make them. Rob was also one-third of one of the NHL’s best radio broadcast teams. Working with the Hall of Famer Peter Maher and Calgary’s own former NHL/WHA Superstar Mike Rogers.
Like many in my field Rob has a burning passion for play-by-play work. For two seasons he was the voice of the Calgary Flames on pay per view. In his time at Sportsnet Radio the FAN960 Rob had the privilege of being the voice of the Calgary Roughnecks during their first championship season in 2004. During the NHL lockout, he called over 20 Calgary Hitmen regular season and playoff games. In the spring of 2005 Rob called part of the inaugural season of baseball’s Calgary Vipers of the Northern League.
Rob has also been given the opportunity to work on grass roots programs such as “Hockey Calgary Magazine” a weekly resource for coaches, parents, and players that has been on the air since 2008. During the 2009/2010 season Rob worked on a companion program called “Hockey Canada Frequency”, a one hour magazine show created in tandem with the sport’s national governing body.
