All Sport One Community Brings Cricket, Rugby, and Fencing to Forest Lawn Kids
On Friday, May 30, All Sport One Community hosted an exciting multi-sport event at Forest Lawn for the kids from Calgary Afterschool Club. The day was filled with energy, learning, and fun as teens were introduced to Cricket, Rugby, and Fencing sports many of them had never experienced before.
This event was made possible through a collaboration with Future Stars Cricket, Epic Fencing, Wolfpack Rugby, and the City of Calgary.
With 84 kids in attendance, each child had the opportunity to try something new. Future Stars Cricket taught them how to swing a bat and bowl a cricket ball. Wolfpack Rugby introduced the rules of the game, passing techniques, and engaged the kids in fast paced, thrilling rugby activities. Meanwhile, Epic Fencing offered a unique experience, guiding the children through the art of fencing with fun games to practice footwork and foil techniques.
To conclude the sports sessions, skills from each discipline were combined in an exciting relay race, where teams competed for gold, silver, and bronze medals—awarded during a podium ceremony.
The day concluded with a special surprise: four Team Canada athletes stopped by to inspire the young participants. Kelleigh Ryan (Fencing), Kailey Allen (Luge), Hamza Tariq (Cricket), and Luca Veeman (Speed Skating) shared stories about their journeys in sport, answered questions, and signed autographs—leaving the kids with memories they won’t soon forget.
