CALGARY— Sport Calgary and the Calgary Adapted Hub powered by Jumpstart are proud to announce they are the successful recipients of the Makadiff Grassroots Community Sport Fund, a grant bestowed by Makadiff Sports, an Alberta non-profit organization committed to advancing grassroots community sports initiatives.

Makadiff Sports, founded in 2013, has consistently championed the cause of supporting children, youth, and disadvantaged individuals in their pursuit of sports activities, aiming to enhance physical literacy and community sports participation throughout Alberta. The Makadiff Grassroots Community Sport Fund focuses on strategically funding initiatives that promise a positive impact on the community.

Sport Calgary and the Calgary Adapted Hub powered by Jumpstart have received the grant to foster inclusive and accessible sports opportunities in the community. The key priority for these funds is a groundbreaking event titled "Adapted All Sport One Day," scheduled for this August and hosted at Vecova.

"Sport Calgary is gratefule to have secured The Makadiff Grassroots Community Sport Fund to support our Adapted All Sport One Day event and our continued efforts to break down barriers and ensure all Calgarians will have the opportunity to participate in sport ," said Catriona Le May Doan, President and CEO of Sport Calgary. "This funding will enable us to open doors and introduce adapted and para for children, youth, and families in Calgary looking for these sporting opportunities in our community."

In addition to showcasing adapted and para sports, the event will also feature a multi-organization expo, inviting the community to engage with various sports organizations. Thanks to the support from Makadiff, training sessions for coaches and leaders will be made available, furthering the goal of increasing the accessibility and inclusion of sports in the community.

"This project is about breaking down barriers, fostering belonging, and sparking new opportunities in the adapted and para sport landscape in Calgary," added Ashley Fox, Director of the Calgary Adapted Hub powered by Jumpstart. "We are grateful for the Makadiff Grassroots Community Sport Fund, which will empower us to make a lasting impact in our community."

Sport Calgary’s mission is to ensure that Calgary thrives through sports for everyone. This initiative aligns seamlessly with the broader vision of Makadiff Sports to enhance the physical literacy and sports participation of individuals across Alberta.
