Topic: The Impact of Physical Activity Among People with Neurodevelopmental Disabilities
About this event
The focus of this webinar is to discuss the impact of physical activity among people with neurodevelopmental disabilities by reviewing recent literature, in addition to relevant studies conducted by Brianne. As well, she will discuss her experience in leading adapted physical activity programs and what she has learned along the way.
Brianne Redquest (PhD) is a postdoctoral associate with the ENHANCE lab at the University of Calgary. Using a multi-disciplinary, community-engaged approach, the goal of her research is to explore and enhance the wellbeing of people with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their family members. One area of her research aims to understand the association between physical activity and wellbeing among individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families. Complementing her research pursuits, she has a strong passion for community engagement. To date, she has co-developed and co-led three adapted physical activity programs to improve the physical endurance, strength, and social and motor skills of youth with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
