787 Calgary Minor Soccer Teams Return to the Pitch this Outdoor Season!

Calgary, AB (April 28, 2022). The outdoor youth soccer season will see 787 teams and roughly 9,000 players return to the pitch with the first games of the Calgary Minor Soccer Association (CMSA) season kicking off on April 30. This season’s participation reflects the excitement and energy around the sport of soccer as well as the anticipated return to normal; CMSA has seen an 86% return-to-play compared to pre-pandemic participation.

“We are excited to kickoff off the season with some new programs and get back to creating meaningful experiences for our participants,” stated Carlo Bruneau, CMSA Executive Director “there is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to get the season going and CMSA would like to thank our member-clubs for their continued dedication in what promises to be an incredible year from grassroots to the world stage.”

CMSA continues to make strides to remove participation barriers to ensure that the game of soccer can be enjoyed by all. The CMSA Grassroots League is an introductory program for our youngest athletes with the goal to create soccer players for life by emphasizing fun and development while keeping families within their community for play.

“We are looking forward to welcoming our U7-U9 players to the CMSA Grassroots League this season! The Match Day locations are accessible for all families to attend, and we will have a fun, safe, and family friendly environment for the kids of Calgary to fall in love with soccer.” Says Jordan Stewart, CMSA Technical Leader.
